An e-commerce business valued at $1bn has chosen Oxford as the home of its new UK headquarters.

Berlin Brands Group (BBG) has chosen Oxford as the home of its UK headquarters primarily due to the city’s ‘impressive’ science, technology and innovation credentials.

BBG creates, builds, buys, and scales consumer brands across the globe and these brands cover home, garden, entertainment and leisure products.

Alexander Bartholomew, managing director UK, said, “I am very pleased to announce that Oxford will be the home of BBG UK. We have an ambitious and exciting plan for our expansion in the United Kingdom, and Oxford is the perfect place to build an expert team to deliver this.”

The headquarters has said although remote working will be a ‘key’ part of its operations, ‘in-person interaction at the office still has a crucial part to play’.

Mr Bartholomew said: “Even highly technology-focused businesses such as ours recognise that cooperation and interactions that happen in person are a key ingredient of the best strategies, teams, and execution.

“The right office location, culture, and balance of working methods is critical to recruiting the best people and creating an environment that delivers success.”

The new headquarters for BBG will be at the Oxford Centre for Innovation in the city centre, which is owned by The Oxford Trust

Steve Burgess, CEO of The Oxford Trust said, “It is a proud moment to welcome the UK subsidiary of an innovative international business of this pedigree to Oxford.”
