WITNEY MP Robert Courts is encouraging people to get their Covid-19 booster and flu jabs.

It comes as an advertising campaign to encourage vaccines this winter has been launched.

In West Oxfordshire, 92,040 people have been given a first dose of the Covid vaccine while 84,922 have received a second dose.

Mr Courts said: “Thanks to the over 90,000 people in West Oxfordshire who have come forward to get their Covid jabs, we’ve been able to open up the country and make progress back towards normal life.

“Over four million people across the country have already received a booster jab.

“It is vital that each and every one of us continues to play our part, to protect our loved ones and the NHS, and to stay ahead in the race against the virus, by taking up the offer of a vaccine.

“I have always been an advocate of the flu vaccine but this winter it is more important ever, so I am encouraging everyone in West Oxfordshire to take advantage of the biggest flu programme in history.

“Let’s build on the success of our vaccine programme so far to bolster our wall of defence against the twin threats of Covid and flu, saving lives and protecting the NHS this winter.”

People will be invited for the Covid booster jab but can call 119 or book online if they have not been contacted within a week of reaching six months since their second jab.

Those eligible for a free flu vaccine can book an appointment through their GP surgery or local pharmacy.
