There were significant delays while the incident was dealt with, but the road has now been cleared.
No arrests have been made.
Investigating officer PC Andy Wickens of the Joint Operations Road Policing Unit based at Abingdon police station, said: “This collision occurred at the beginning of the rush hour and I am appealing to anybody who witnessed the collision to please contact us.
“I would particularly like to hear from anybody who may have captured the collision on dash-cam, so I would urge people to please check their cameras and contact Thames Valley Police if you have any footage.
