With a history dating over 1000 years, and a number of buildings just as old, it is no surprise that Oxford is a city famous for hauntings.
The city’s resident ghosts include King Charles I, Oscar Wilde, George Napier, King Henry II mistress and multiple monks, with the spirits supposedly finding refuge in various Oxford colleges, churches and Oxford Castle and Prison.
Across the city centre there are 18 locations which are famous for ghosts sightings, as well as two places in Wolvercote.
Paranormal activity, in fact, is such a draw for the city’s tourists that a number of Ghost Tour’s are offered around Oxford.
As Halloween is fast approaching, we used information sourced from the UK Haunted Locations Database to map all of Oxford’s ghostly happenings.
If you click on the location pins you can read all about the spooky and grisly events which took place at each location.
