POLICE are hunting for a man after a 'vicious attack' on Cowley Road. 

The victim, a man in his 20s, was walking home from a night out in Oxford when he saw a fight break out at the junction of East Avenue.

One man assaulted two other people so the victim tried to step in to help but was punched in the face, knocking him unconscious. 

After a few minutes, he came back around and saw the fight was still ongoing.

He tried a second time to stop it but another man pushed him backwards into a glass door. 

He was taken to hospital with several fractures. 

Now police have released CCTV of a man they want to speak to after the incident. 

Investigating officer, PC Matthew Stansfield based at Cowley police station, said: “This was a vicious attack on someone who was trying to broker peace after a fight broke out.

“As a result of this his cheek bone was broken in three places, he received a fractured eye socket, a broken nose, and a fractured jaw, as well as a broken hand and foot."

He added: “We believe someone must have further information about this attack and we are re-releasing an image of a man we want to speak to in connection with this incident."

Police are asking witnesses to call police on 101 quoting referencing 43210197701.
