Thames Valley Police have launched an investigation after a man was stabbed in Oxford last night.

At around 9.50pm, officers were called by South Central Ambulance Service to Gillians Park, off Dunnock Way, after a man in his 30s was left with stab wounds.

He was raced to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Last night (Wednesday), police arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with the attack. He has now been released under investigation.

The offenders are all described as black males, and were all wearing face coverings.

Investigating officer Detective Inspector James Mather, of Oxford CID, said: “We believe this incident took place just before 9.30pm in Blackbird Leys Park and the victim then walked through Gillians Park after the incident.

“I am appealing to anybody who witnessed the incident, or who may have information that can assist this investigation to please contact Thames Valley Police either online or via 101, quoting reference number 43210472676.

“Although I understand this incident will cause concern in the local community, at this stage, we do not believe this to have been a random attack.

“There is an increased police presence in the area while our investigation continues, but we do not believe there is a wider risk to the local community.”
