A charitable company run which aims to empower women across the county and wider world is running an event for Black History Month this weekend.
Jewins women2women supports and empowers women in prison and mental health hospitals, whose children are disabled or terminally ill, who are fleeing domestic violence and those who are disadvantaged in Badagry, Lagos in Nigeria.
It’s reach helps women in Oxford, Oxfordshire, East Midlands and Africa.
The event, in partnership with The Oxford Academy, celebrates black history by selling African food, fabrics and arts and crafts. It will also have music, an African fashion show and a raffle with a chance to win an ‘African mystery prize’.
The celebration of black history will take place on Saturday at The Oxford Academy between 12pm and 6pm.
