FIRE officers are reminding everyone on the importance of having a working smoke alarm in their homes.
The warning comes after firefighters from Kidlington Fire Station and Rewley Road were called to reports of a cooker on fire at a property in Yarnton.
On arrival firefighters had to wear breathing apparatus were committed to extinguish the fire and ventilate the property.
The firefighters then checked for fire spread by cutting away and using thermal imagining cameras.
Prompt action by the home owners and having working smoke alarms prevented the incident from escalating into something more serious.
