Oxford University has been named the best place to study for a career as a research scientist.

It comes after a study by sustainable online platform Bower Collective.

It looked at average salary, market growth trends, demand and minimum education requirements, ranking 44 of the top most advertised environmental job roles across 11 different sectors.

Following on from this, the study also suggests the UK’s top university offering the best and most relevant degree for each role.

It found that Oxford University ranks as the best place to study if you are contemplating a career as a research scientist/analyst, ranking seventh overall.

Candidates are also currently high in demand due to a high, as the volume of vacancies is among the highest considering all job roles analysed.

The university also offers the top rated degrees, according to the study, if you are interested in either a career as a geologist, the sixth best paid environmental job, or an environmental data analyst which ranks 19th best overall.

The demand to fill environmental job roles has increased by 91 per cent in the UK, compared to five years ago and the average salary within the sector is also 12 per cent above the national average, at £35,267.
