A 91-YEAR-OLD Scout leader who has dedicated 70 years of her life to the Scouting movement has been awarded for her service by Bear Grylls.

Pamela Hull, long term resident of Wantage was presented with a certificate and badge celebrating her 70 years of involvement with the Scouting movement.

The certificate is signed by the UK’s Chief Scout Bear Grylls, who is also the Chief Ambassador to World Scouting.

Mrs Hull became a Cub Scout Leader in Rugby aged 18 and moved to Wantage in 1960 with her husband John, where she joined 1st King Alfred Scout Group as a Cub Scout Leader.

She was District Deputy Commissioner for Scouts from July 1961 to May 1979 and served as Secretary to the appointments panel from January 1988 to May 2010.

The Scout leader is an active member of the Church community and has spent a great deal of her spare time doing voluntary work in and around Wantage.

The Certificate was presented by Steve Trinder, the new President of King Alfred’s District Scouts, and who was one of Mrs Hull’s Cub Scouts in 1969.
