A large fire broke out at a village hotel last night, with fire crews from Oxfordshire helping to tackle the blaze.

Just before 8:30pm Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service responded to the large hotel fire in Stokenchurch, alongside crews Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service and Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service.

The fire took place at the Kings Hotel on Oxford Road.

This incident came as crews were already responding to a ‘significant fire’ at farm near Wallingford.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue were called out to a fire at an agricultural unit at 16:23 yesterday afternoon.

A number of pigs died in the fire.

A spokesperson from Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Last night turned out to be particularly busy across South Oxfordshire as crews from across the Thames Valley and further afield worked together at two significant incidents as well as a number of smaller ones.

“Multiple crews from all counties were in attendance throughout the night and we continue to assist where needed today. We supported with a number of appliances, officers and our hydraulic platform.

“Crews from across South, City and West Oxfordshire were either at the incident or providing fire cover stood by at other stations throughout the night.

“Some tired faces and a lot of cleaning this morning but great work by everyone to conclude an incredibly busy nights work!”
