THOUSANDS of students from across the country took part in a psychology conference hosted by an Oxford school.

Oxford High School virtually held 4,800 pupils from 90 schools to learn about the future of psychology from leading academics in the field.

Patricia Dass, head of psychology at Oxford High, said: “Power of collective action was demonstrated by the Oxford High School Year 13 psychology students, who managed to run a successful psychology conference themed around ‘psychology: the future’.

“The future belongs to those who give the next generation reasons for hope and this is what this conference aimed at and achieved.

“The event was a huge success and has gathered fantastic feedback of praise and admiration for the team, from the participants as well as the speakers.”

Year 13 student Aisling, who helped pull the event together, said: “We heard from nine amazing speakers with topics ranging from the teenage brain to the placebo effects, to the science of happiness and even a talk from a forensic psychologist on what a career in the field is really like.

“We were treated to engaging and interactive talks and punctuated the day with riddles and games run by our team.

“We were delighted to have such a wide range of schools attending this event and have received amazing feedback.”
