Four products from Oxfordshire have received top marks in the Great Taste Awards 2021, with judges labelling the products as ‘exquisite’.

The products range across the county from Wantage to Chipping Norton and are Wessex Mill’s Tomato and Garlic Bread Flour and Six Seed Bread Flour, Fino’s White Balsamic (Blanco) and FWP Matthews’s Malted Cotswold Rye.

All the products have been awarded three-ratings by the Guild of Fine Food in its Great Taste Awards 2021, the UK’s largest and most trusted accreditation scheme for fine food and drink.

Celebrating their win on Instagram, FWP Matthews’s wrote: “We’re so proud to have be awarded so many stars.”

Since 1994, more than 130,000 products have been judged in the Great Taste Awards, with just two per cent receiving a three-star rating.

The products are put through a robust judging process which examines if it has a truly great taste, regardless of its branding and packaging.

In a similar system to Michelin stars, products are then rated as either one, two or three stars.

Products that meet the three-star rating are labelled as ‘exquisite’ and ‘extraordinarily tasty foods’.

Across the county, a total of 72 products have received awards this year including locally produced vinegars, gins, hot sauces and cake mix.
