A 55-year-old driver has died after a crash with a JCB digger on the B4044 in Farmoor, near Oxford.

The road was closed in both directions following the accident which happened at 7.45am.

It involved a blue Ford Kuga and a yellow JCB 416 on the B4044 between the A420 and the B4017.

The driver of the Ford Kuga, who was from Oxford, died at the scene of his injuries.

The driver of the JCB suffered minor injuries, which did not require hospital treatment.

Sergeant Ed Crofts of the Joint Operations Unit for Roads Policing, based at Three Mile Cross, said: “Tragically, as a result of this morning’s collision, a man suffered very serious injuries and passed away at the scene, despite the best efforts of medical professionals.

“The man’s next of kin have been made aware and are being supported by officers at this time, and the thoughts of all of us at Thames Valley Police are with them at this very difficult time.

“I am making this appeal to anybody who witnessed the collision to please get in touch with Thames Valley Police either by making a report online, or by calling 101, quoting reference number 43210446143.

“I would particularly like to hear from anybody who was driving in the area and may have dash-cam footage which captured the collision to please contact us.

“The road was closed for investigation work for a number of hours, and I would thank the public for their patience and understanding while we dealt with this collision.”
