RUMOURS that pharmacy Boots is closing in six months' time are not true.

There had been reports that the chain would close its branch in Cornmarket Street, Oxford but after we contacted the shop it confirmed that 'there are no current plans to close this store'.

There are currently seven Boots across Oxford.

The shop in Cornmarket Street recently came under fire by local chemist Cowan's Pharmacy after it opposed its application for an NHS prescriptions permit.

After moving from department store Boswells which closed last year, Adil Cowan, who runs Cowan’s in St Michael’s Street, must seek new permission from NHS England to provide NHS services.
