WIDER cycle lanes, 20mph speed limits and safer crossings could be introduced if plans are approved.

Oxfordshire County Council is currently looking for local’s views on plans to introduce ‘quickways cycle routes’ across the city.

Cycle quickways aim to allow cyclists into the city quickly and safely.

If plans are approved, the new scheme could be implemented by spring 2022.

The roads that could be affected if plans are approved include:

• Cowley Road/Oxford Road

• Iffley Road/Henley Avenue/Rose Hill

• St Clement’s Street

• Donnington Bridge Road

• Marston Road

• Morrell Avenue

• Between Towns Road/Church Cowley Road

Banbury Road/St Giles

• Parks Road

The roads which will be subjected to 20mph speed limits, if plans go ahead, include:

Abingdon Road

• Cowley Road

• Iffley Road

• Donnington Bridge Road

• Church Cowley Road

The proposals for the schemes for Oxford result from nearly £3 million cash award from the government’s Active Travel Fund to upgrade infrastructure to increase levels of walking, cycling and use of rented e-scooters.

The consultation will be open until October 10 which can be filled out online by visiting www.oxfordshire.gov.uk.
