A FORMER Oxford United player took part in a Ready, Steady, Cook challenge against Army personnel.
United’s business development manager Peter Rhoades-Brown was joined by head of matchday operations Andy Taylor to make meals for up to 80 people.
The event took place at the Cherwell Larder, with the duo coming up against 1 regiment RLC (Royal Logistics Corps).
Both teams did not know the ingredients they would be using until the unveiling, before being tasked with cooking a pasta dish for guests – using items of food that would have otherwise have gone to waste.
Guests then voted on whose dish they preferred.
The event was held to raise awareness surrounding food waste during the Oxfordshire Great Big Green Week, while money was raised for the Cherwell Collective.
Mr Taylor said: “The organiser of the Cherwell food larder asked us to get involved in a cook off based on Ready, Steady, Cook to celebrate the work that they do at the Exeter Hall in Kidlington.
“The club has supported the larder on a number of occasions already and it was great to be invited to take part in what was a fantastic day in Kidlington.”
