THERE were 388 new Covid-19 cases recorded in Oxfordshire today and zero deaths, according to the latest Government figures.

This is 203 cases more than the 185 cases that were recorded on Sunday.

The rate of infection in Oxfordshire as of Wednesday stood at 250 cases per 100,000 people, lower than the England average of 259.3.

Oxford – 109

South Oxfordshire – 54

Cherwell – 79

West Oxfordshire – 49

Vale of White Horse – 97

The total number of coronavirus cases since the pandemic started are:

Oxford – 16,734

Oxfordshire – 60,345

The UK has recorded a further 49 deaths within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus and 36,100 new cases, according to Government data.

Between September 14 and September 20, there were 212,643 positive test results. This shows a decrease of -12 per cent compared to the previous seven days.

Cases identified through a positive lateral flow test – those which can deliver results within half an hour – will no longer be counted if the person then takes a PCR test, which is sent to a lab to be checked, and receives a negative result within three days.

Across the UK, 48,593,019 people had been given a first vaccine dose by the end of Sunday and 44,466,121 people had been given a second dose.
