A Guinness World Record holding strongman will perform as part of a ‘thrilling’ new circus show coming to Oxford next month.

The UK tour of Luminosa, a brand-new circus cabaret, will be performed at the Oxford Playhouse at the end of October.

Strong man Massimiliano Rossetti will perform the rarely seen Korean Cradle – a type of aerial performance – with his acrobatics partner and highly ranked junior gymnast Roisin Morris.

Rossetti, the artistic director of leading contemporary circus company Lost in Translation, directed the show with Adrian Berry, the artistic director of creative space Jacksons Lane.

A spokesperson for the show said: “Luminosa offers high quality, accessible circus in the form of a brand-new circus cabaret for the 21st Century.

“A sizzling, scintillating night of daring feats with fun and fantastic performance. Luminosa is a ‘don’t miss’ night out with aerial, acrobatics, Chinese pole, live music by Peter Reynolds and more.

“Expect cutting-edge dance in the sky, jaw-dropping juggling, tipsy hoop swirling and laughter in this feel-good show from some of the very best of British and international circus artists.”

Rossetti holds his Guinness World Record for performing the most somersaults on a Korean Cradle in one minute, which in August 2019 he achieved 16 somersaults.

On stage during the 70 minute long show Rossetti and Morris will be joined by dazzling aerialist Tilly Mae, aerial hoop artist Danielle Summer, foot juggler Valerie Jauregui and extraordinary straps performer Holly Downey.

Joining the Lost in Translation crew will be three incredible performers - Sadiq Alion Chinese pole, Zaki Musa on flying pole and Joana Dias on aerial hoop.

Other artists will rotate into the show throughout the tour including Lost in Translation co-founder Annabel Carberry bringing her flair and style to hula hoops, Lawrence Swaddle with his talented acrobatics and handstand artist and high-level artistic gymnast Tasha Rushbrooke.

The company will work with Extraordinary Bodies and Upswing to employ a revolving cast of freelance circus artists and creatives throughout the tour.

To keep the show adaptable and relevant, local guest artists will join the core cast of seven for each venue giving it a bespoke edge.

The spokesperson added: “These incredible circus artists will present a sizzling, scintillating night of daring feats with fun and fantastic performance in this feel-good show from some of the very best of British and international circus artists.”

Luminosa will be performed at the Oxford Playhouse on October 27 2021. Tickets can be purchased from the Oxford Playhouse website with tickets available from £10.
