THE driver of a white van was found unconscious after crashing into a ditch.

Fire crews from Didcot fire station rushed to the scene near Blewbury just before 6am today after receiving reports of a collision.

The driver was found unconscious by a passing member of the ambulance service.

The van's engine was still running and the firefighters did not know how long the vehicle had been there for.

Firefighters using hydraulic cutting equipment released the motorist from the van and into the care of South Central Ambulance Service and Thames Valley Police.

The driver was not thought to be seriously injured.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said on Facebook; "We cannot stress strongly enough the dangers associated with speeding, distraction, not wearing seatbelt and intoxication whilst driving a vehicle."
