A research scientist was caught doing almost twice the speed limit on the A41.
Carl Bartlett, 26, was clocked driving his Kia Ceed at 70mph in the 40 zone near Bicester on January 19.
On Friday, Oxford magistrates banned him from the roads for 21 days – noting it was an ‘exceedingly’ high speed.
Speaking in his own defence, Bartlett said he worked shifts as a research scientist for a firm in Abingdon and would have to take several trains and buses and leave at 4am in order to get to work.
Bartlett, of Spruce Drive, Bicester, had already pleaded guilty to speeding. He was fined £441 and ordered to pay £129 in costs and surcharge.
