A salon from Oxford has been named the winner of a sustainability award at an event for the professional hairdressing industry.

Anne Veck Oxford won the Sustainability Hero category at hairdressing awards Most Wanted, which was presented by Creative HEAD magazine.

The Sustainability Hero trophy was a new award for 2021 and recognises a salon which is helping to change the way we live.

Owners Anne Veck and Keith Mellen have introduced a range of energy-saving and eco-friendly measures, alongside reducing CO2 emissions by 40 per cent.

Catherine Handcock, publisher at Creative HEAD, said: “Sustainability is more than a buzzword in hairdressing now – it’s a responsibility.

“Anne and Keith set brilliant examples both personally and professionally in the positive changes they’ve made to halt and reverse climate and biodiversity emergencies. They are deserving winners of this inaugural award.”

Anne Veck Oxford was announced as the winner at the Most Wanted Grand Final, which was held at Printworks London on September 6.

As well as their award, the salon will also receive a prize from category sponsor Kao Corporation, publicity in Creative HEAD for the duration of their winning year and the opportunity to appear at Creative HEAD events.

The Most Wanted awards showcase the exciting, progressive and game-changing talents in UK and Irish hairdressing.
