A CHARITY which helps children with their reading skills is seeking volunteers for the new academic year.
Bicester-based Assisted Reading for Children (ARCh) works across the county and needs volunteers to provide one-to-one support to children in primary schools.
The charity had 300 volunteers in schools prior to the pandemic.
Co-founder Jane Rendle said: “Reading is a key life skill to develop in children for a happy and successful life in school and beyond.
“Our volunteers love what they do and know they are making a real difference to children’s life prospects.
“No particular qualifications are needed to volunteer. You just need good communication skills, an enjoyment of children’s company and books, and ideally two or three hours to spare each week during the school day, usually early afternoon.
“ARCh provides initial and ongoing training, support and resources.”
