There was a circus atmosphere when The Bookshop at Chipping Norton opened a special room for children.
The Oxfordshire Travelling Players provided entertainment outside the store in West Street, and youngsters were invited to appear as circus artists.
Town mayor Pat Lake was invited to judge the circus faces and the costumes they wore.

Owner Elizabeth Sleight said: “Most bookshops do not have a special children’s area, but books for children are a growing market.
If you get children interested in books, they will carry on reading.”

Jaffé and Neale is now the town’s bookshop in Middle Row.
