THERE are 224 new Covid-19 cases registered in Oxfordshire in the last 24 hours according to the latest Government figures.

The rate of infection in Oxfordshire as of 4pm on Monday stands at 336.4 cases per 100,000 people, lower than the UK average of 339.3.

There have been 3 deaths across the county in the week between August 7 and August 13.

These are the latest cases separated by local authority:

  • Oxford – 58
  • South Oxfordshire – 62
  • Cherwell – 32
  • West Oxfordshire – 32
  • Vale of White Horse – 40

The total number of coronavirus cases since the pandemic started are:

  • Oxford – 15,013
  • Oxfordshire – 52,341

The UK has recorded a further 149 Covid-related deaths and 35,847 new cases, according to Government data.

Cases identified through a positive lateral flow test – those which can deliver results within half an hour – will no longer be counted if the person then takes a PCR test, which is sent to a lab to be checked, and receives a negative result within three days.

Across the UK 87.9 per cent of people have received their first jab, and 77.4 per cent have received their second dose of the Covid vaccine.
