THERE are 315 new Covid-19 cases registered in Oxfordshire in the last 24 hours according to the latest Government figures.

The rate of infection in Oxfordshire as of 4pm on Monday stands at 328.3 cases per 100,000 people, lower than the UK average of 327.4.

There have been 3 deaths across the county in the week between July 31 and August 6.

These are the latest cases separated by local authority:

  • Oxford – 75
  • South Oxfordshire – 69
  • Cherwell – 60
  • West Oxfordshire – 45
  • Vale of White Horse – 66

The total number of coronavirus cases since the pandemic started are:

  • Oxford – 14,899
  • Oxfordshire – 51,880

The UK has recorded a further 40 Covid-related deaths and 31,914 new cases, according to Government data.

Cases identified through a positive lateral flow test – those which can deliver results within half an hour – will no longer be counted if the person then takes a PCR test, which is sent to a lab to be checked, and receives a negative result within three days.

Across the UK 87.7 per cent of people have received their first jab, and 76.9 per cent have received their second dose of the Covid vaccine.
