A Witney man who had hundreds of child sex abuse images was given a suspended sentence.

Martyn Rodger, 25, received six months’ imprisonment suspended for two years – and was ordered to do 60 days’ worth of rehabilitation sessions with the probation service addressing his interest in the sick material.

At an earlier hearing, the Witney man had admitted having five indecent images and videos in category A – the most serious – six in category B, one category C image and 1,167 prohibited images of children.

The vile collection was amassed between August and December 2019.

Rodger, of Eastfield Road, Witney, had pleaded guilty to making indecent images and possession of prohibited images.

Recorder John Hardy QC made him subject to a sexual harm prevention order for life. He must register as a sex offender for the next decade.
