PLANNING disputes, more flats and university refurbishments are just a few of the most notable items happening across the county this week.

SOUTH Oxfordshire District Council have applied for a High Court review over a development which would see care retirement community care village of up to 133 units built, as well as communal facilities and designated green space.

On June 25, the Planning Inspector granted permission on appeal for a continuing care retirement community care village at Little Sparrows, Sonning Common.

The district council had previously refused permission for this development due to the potential impact on the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Following legal advice, and after consultation with the Leader of the council and the Chair of the Planning Committee, the district council considers that there are sufficient grounds to challenge the Planning Inspector’s decision and has therefore made an application to the High Court for a review.
