There are just 14 areas in England and Wales that have recorded zero Covid-19 deaths from the start of the pandemic to April 2021, two of them are in Oxfordshire.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has released a report which revealed the number of excess deaths during the pandemic across the 7,201 neighbourhoods in England and Wales.

The ONS report included an interactive postcode tracker for excess deaths and a map detailing changes in mortality rates in different areas.

The data from March 2020 to April 2021 showed there were 13 areas in England and one in Wales in which zero deaths due to Covid-19 - where coronavirus was the main cause of death - were reported.

From Oxfordshire, Eynsham & Stanton Harcourt were included on the list.

The data also revealed that Eynsham & Stanton Harcourt experience 5 per cent fewer overall deaths during the pandemic than would be expected, compared with the five-year death average.

This 5 per cent drop in average deaths was because there was only one excess death during the first wave of the pandemic but three fewer in the second wave.
