A FILM company that provides opportunities for Latin Americans in Film and Digital content has taken on a new challenge of producing six short films with the goal of bringing more representation to the Latin American Community in the UK.

Film Locos has been working with Latin Americans from different parts of the UK and Europe, including Oxford.

The film company has connected with Oxford through one of their members, Rauni Barros Da Silva, a director-filmmaker from Brazil who has called Oxford his home for the past 20 years.

Having grown up and studied in Oxford, Mr Barros Da Silva started his own video production company (True Vision Features). His aim is to create visuals narratives and he also has done work with many of the local businesses as well as Oxford’s stand out events such as Cowley Road Carnival, St. Giles Fair, Love Oxford and Dancin’ Oxford’s Spring festival.

Oxford Mail:

For this first season he has directed ‘The One In the Mirror’, written by Karlina Veras, a drama about a self-loathing Dominican teenage girl with an identity crisis. He was also the cinematographer on ‘You’re Just my type’ a Romantic Comedy about a world connoisseur who tries to impress a Colombian girl on their first date and the struggles of Latin American Women dating under the Latin preconceptions of the west. Written by Tara Hoyos-Martinez, directed by the Peruvian Mauro Pedretti. It was shot in Oxford at Love Jericho restaurant, a cocktail bar on Walton Street.
