A cannabis farmer operating a small-scale factory in Blackbird Leys has been jailed for eight months.

Erkel Dedja, 30, produced the drugs at a house in Ladenham Road.

Oxford Crown Court heard that there were multiple cannabis plants in the property together with six bags of the class B drug when police raided the home on May 21. The estimated value of the product was not given in court.

Sentencing him to eight months’ imprisonment, Recorder John Hardy QC said: “In this case there is much that this court does not know because this case has what we would call hidden depths.

“You have found yourself in the firing line and as is so often the case it is the poor foot soldiers not the generals at the back who have to take the punishment.”

Dedja, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty at the Magistrates’ Court in May to producing cannabis. It is likely the Albanian national will be deported at the end of his sentence.
