Two men who were caught “interfering” with a van in Bucks have been ordered to pay thousands in compensation.

Seamus McDonagh, 20, and Thomas McDonagh, 19, were both caught “interfering” with a Ford transit van in Chiltern Heights, Amersham, on March 2, Wycombe Magistrates’ Court heard on June 16.

The court heard how the pair were intending to either steal the vehicle, steal a part of it, or steal something from inside it.

The offenders, both from Enfield, London, admitted the offence, and both also admitted a charge of going equipped for theft on the same day. Both men were found in Woodside Road carrying screwdrivers, drills and a crowbar.

The pair also pleaded guilty to handling stolen goods – £280-worth of power tools.

Both men were ordered to pay £1277.30 compensation, and the magistrates ordered both men to undertake 140 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months.

The duo were also ordered to pay a further £312.50 costs.
