PEOPLE had a lucky escape from a fire, which destroyed their village home in the middle of the night.

Crews from Hook Norton, Chipping Norton and Banbury were called to the blaze in a home in Bell Hill, Hook Norton, just after 2am on Friday.

They were faced with a well developed fire and put it out using hose reels and breathing apparatus.

The occupants had already fled the property after they were alerted to the fire by their smoke alarm and nobody was hurt.

Photographs of the aftermath show the floor and walls in the kitchen completely charred.
