A lag who had what prosecutors labelled a cosh was given a suspended sentence.

Convicted robber Anthony Baugh, 34, had the offensive weapon while serving at HMP Bullingdon, near Bicester, on July 14 last year.

At Oxford Crown Court on Thursday, July 22, Judge Ian Pringle QC sentenced him to six months’ imprisonment suspended for a year-and-a-half.

Baugh, of Luther Street, Oxford, had already admitted possession of the cosh.

In 2019, he was sentenced to three years and eight months after he was found guilty of robbing staff at Easington Post Office. He’d had a knife with him during the theft, but did not use it. The weapon was found on the floor of the shop after the incident.
