Boris Johnson has now been Prime Minister for two very eventful years.

Key events of his premiership have included Covid, Brexit, marriage and a baby.

As he marks this milestone, here are all of the times he has been to Oxfordshire during his time in office:

1. On August 8, 2019, Mr Johnson visited Oxfordshire to unveil a ‘fast-track visa route’ for scientists after Brexit and chat to Conservative activists.

He went to Culham Science Centre and then met party councillors and activists at an Abingdon hotel.

Despite making repeated requests, the Oxford Mail was not invited to either event by 10 Downing Street. It was his first official visit to the county as Prime Minister.

2. On December 10, 2019, Mr Johnson reportedly visited Oxford for the funeral of one of his former teachers.

The Prime Minister was said to have taken time out of his campaign trail to pay tribute to Professor Jasper Griffin, who died on November 22 at the age of 82.

His funeral was held at Balliol College Chapel.

3. On September 18, 2020, the Prime Minister visited the Oxford vaccine lab at the Jenner Institute.

He was shown around by Professor Kate Ewer, a senior immunologist at the labs and was given a tour through the laboratory and met scientists who were leading the Covid-19 vaccine research.

The visit was kept secret from the Oxford Mail and other local journalists, with no opportunity for our reporters to talk to Mr Johnson or question him.

4. On January 18, 2021, Mr Johnson went to the Oxford vaccine centre.

He said on his visit: “I understand completely that people want to get back to normal as fast as we possibly can. It does depend on things going well.

“It depends on the vaccination programme going well, it depends on there being no new variants that throw our plans out and we have to mitigate against, and it depends on everybody, all of us, remembering that we’re not out of the woods yet.”

Just before Mr Johnson was elected, he made a visit to Nash's Bakery in Bicester on June 22, 2019.

He joined staff behind the counter to serve sausage rolls and cakes to customers.

People crowded the bakery windows to catch a glimpse of hime as a select few were allowed in for a very brief encounter.
