Regulars at the Three Pigeons pub at Witney staged an annual crazy cricket match.

Eggs and tomatoes were bowled instead of a ball and the batsmen often found themselves facing more than one bowler during the game at Wood Green.

The match between the Three Pigeons and morris dancers from the Angel pub in Islington, North London, had become a regular fixture.

Batsman Alex Szyszkowski, above, discovered just how crazy it could be when he was at the crease in 1984.

Three Pigeons landlord Wally Collins, keeping wicket behind, looks determined to stump Alex whatever happens.

Mr Collins said: “It was a fun day. The cricket was a bit strange, but it produced a lot of laughs.”

A collection was made for Leukaemia Research - and for the record, the result was a draw.
