Three boats built in the county are being transported to London to take part in this year's boat show.

The boats, made by Oxfordshire Narrowboats, were lifted by a 40-ton crane and placed on to a lorry to travel to the Collins Stewart 2008 London Boat Show.

Today, the narrowboats were picked up at Enslow Wharf, 10 miles north of Oxford, bound for the Excel Exhibition Centre, where they will join other boats from around the UK.

Tens of thousands of visitors are expected from Friday until Sunday, January 20.

David Dare, the owner of Oxfordshire Narrowboats, in Lower Heyford, said: "Watching our boats go skyward was the first stage of what will hopefully be a very successful show."
