A RADIO station has raised more than £63K for Ronald McDonald House Charities UK with a radiothon.

Supported by its sister stations , JACK2 Hits and JACK3 Chill, Oxfordshire radio station JACKfm broadcast live from Ronald McDonald House Oxford for two days, 12 hours a day.

The radio station shared heartbreaking stories and journeys of the parents who use the facilities and encouraged listeners across the county to support the charity.

A Ronald McDonald House costs upwards of £1,500 a day to open, with JACKfm’s fundraising efforts having covered this cost for more than 40 days. For the charity, which has been massively impacted by reduced fundraising opportunities brought about by the pandemic, this donation was much-needed.

Nathan Swift, community fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House Charities UK in Oxfordshire, said: “We have been blown away by the generosity of JACKfm’s listeners and thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. The service that we provide to families at their time of need is absolutely invaluable and we simply wouldn’t be able to keep the facility open were it not for fundraising initiatives such as this.”
