EDDIE Pepperell enjoyed an encouraging return to action at the BMW International Open.
Playing in his first tournament for almost a month, the Abingdon golfer carded a three-under par 69 in his opening round at Golfclub München Eichenried, Munich.
Pepperell was in one of the first groups to tee off from the tenth, alongside German Sebastian Heisele and Thorbjorn Olesen, from Norway.
A bogey at the 14th followed a string of pars, but the Frilford Heath member responded in impressive fashion.
Four birdies at the next five holes put Pepperell firmly back on track as he eyed a big finish.
A bogey at the par-four third proved a setback, but the 30-year-old cancelled that out by picking up a shot at the sixth.
It was the same pattern at the eighth and ninth, with a dropped shot followed by a birdie to finish.
Pepperell tees off in the same group at the later time of 1.20pm tomorrow.
