POLICE have released CCTV after an incident which saw tobacco stolen from a Tesco, while a member of staff was assaulted.

At about 10.30pm on Sunday, two offenders entered the store in Oxford Road and approached the cigarette counter.

They started removing tobacco from the shelves behind the tills when staff intervened.

One member of staff was assaulted by one of the offenders.

Both offenders then ran from the shop with tobacco.

The staff member sustained bruising but did not require hospital treatment.

Investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Nathan Adby, based at Abingdon police station said: “I am releasing these images as I believe these individuals may have information about what happened.

“If you recognise these people or if you think one of them is you, please get in touch.

“Further, I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident, or anyone with information about what happened, to please come forward.

“I’d also ask local residents with private CCTV or doorbells with cameras to check any footage in case it may have captured something that could assist with the investigation.
