A serving prisoner who walked out of an open jail has admitted escape.
Ishmale Hanson, 29, absconded from HMP Springhill in Buckinghamshire in April.
It wasn't until May 17 that he was arrested behind the wheel of a 70-plate Audi on the M40.
Appearing before Oxford Crown Court via video link from HMP Bullingdon on Friday, Hanson, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to escape, possession of a mobile phone in prison, and driving without insurance or a valid licence.
Recorder Michael Roques heard that Hanson had been recalled on a sentence of imprisonment for public protection - a type of life-long sentence - imposed in 2007.
The judge remanded him in custody and said he would be sentenced later in the year following other legal proceedings.
