STUDENT accommodation in Slade Park could be getting a 'facelift'.

Slade Park Student Apartments, a private accommodation on Horspath Driftway could be remodelled.

The plans, by a company called Privilege Oxford SARL, would aim to improve 'the welcome experience and creating the much needed quality social and amenity spaces for the students'.

The number of bedrooms would not be increased, and instead a planning report says the renovation work to the student block would focus on improving 'wellbeing experience'.

There is apparently a lack of social and amenity space at the site, so alongside replacing cladding on the block there are plans to transform a courtyard in the middle of the building into a 'secure space' with a pavilion area that students can gather at.

The building has been recently purchased by the applicant, which is a company registerd in Luxembourg.

NEW electric car charging spaces could be erected at the Oxford Business Park.

Six of the charging points could be placed outside the office building, Rowan Place on John Smith Drive.

There are also plans to get rid of the existing bin and bike stores to build a new smoking shelter and bin store.

A larger cycle storage area and a new generator will also be built over the top of four car parking spaces outside the three-storey office block.

A planning document says all the new buildings and additions will be 'modest' because they are one-storey in size.

A SWIMMING pool at a home on Jack Straw's Lane will need a full planning application, and cannot be built under rules that allow homeowners to make small tweaks without permission.

The homeowner had asked whether building the pool at a home on the lane off Marston Road would be allowed under permitted development.

This is an area of the law that allows changes to be made to properties without a full planning application.

If the homeowner wants to build the pool, they will now have to go through a full planning application.

The shop, like all Tesco supermarkets across the UK, is undergoing a rebranding exercise, and the company asked for permission to show a slightly different version of its logo and livery on Magdalen Street.

Oxford City Council planning chiefs said the company could do this

There are plans for new branding at the Cowley Road Tesco when this reopens after a project to build new student flats above it is completed.
