Police are hunting for two more suspects after a man was found in a street suffering from stab wounds.

Mark Smith suffered 12 stab wounds to his head, face, abdomen and limbs, as well as a collapsed lung, following an assault in Oxford Road, Cowley, at around 11.30pm on December 30.

Mr Smith has also told police he was assaulted with an iron bar.

Police have charged Alan Wood, 45, and Tracy Hickman, 42, both of Oxford Road, with attempted murder.

They appeared at Oxford Magistrates' Court yesterday02/01 and were remanded in custody.

But officers are now appealing for information about two men who were seen being driven away in a white van shortly before Mr Smith was discovered.

Dc Sarah Berry, of Oxford CID, said: "We believe these men played a major part in this attack and we are determined to find them.

"Were you on Oxford Road on Sunday evening and if so, did you see something suspicious?

"Or perhaps you live elsewhere in the Oxford area and saw a white van. We would like to know where it went between 11.30pm and 2.30am.

"We would also like to appeal to any residents of the Oxford Road that, if they have found any knives in the area, then it is vital they contact us."

Police are now trying to trace two black men seen leaving the house and driving off in a white Ford Transit van, registration number V535 ROF.

The van later returned to the crime scene at around 2.30am. It has been seized and is currently being examined by forensics officers.

Anyone with information should contact DC Berry on 08458 505505 or speak anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Hickman and Wood are due to appear at Oxford Crown Court on Tuesday, January 8.
