The Oxford Windrush Festival kicks off this Saturday to mark Windrush Day 2021 – 73 years since the SS Empire Windrush arrived at Tilbury Docks.
‘See, Think, Wonder, Create’ offers workshops, storytelling, performance, and even a carnival with steel pan, African drums, and dancing.
You can discover fascinating objects and specimens from the museums and gardens of Oxford University and get creative with arts and crafts activities supported by Museum of Oxford and Oxford Brookes University.
Organised by the Oxford Windrush Group, you can drop in between 10am and 3pm at the Templars Square shopping centre in Cowley.
Local theatre troupe Unlock the Chains Collective will perform Still Breathing at the Sheldonian Theatre at 7pm.

Unlock the Chains Collective founder Euton Daley said: “This is a heartfelt piece, not just from myself and the cast involved but also those involved in struggles for equality and justice.”
And the Caribbean Living Room exhibition at 58 Between Towns Road, Cowley, will also open between 10am and 4pm on Saturday.
Originally created by local groups ACKHI and BK.LUWO, this reconstruction of a typical 1960s West Indian front room with opportunities to learn about the experiences of the Oxford Windrush Generation is now in its third year.
It will also be open between 10am and 4pm on June 22, 23 and 24.
