With lockdown restrictions gradually easing, an Oxford shopping centre is working in collaboration with an Oxford festival to inject some fun into customers' lunchtime shopping trip.

All-female dance troupe The Queens will be performing in Leiden Square at the Westgate Centre next Tuesday kicking off Offbeat Festival 2021.

The group is known for their unique style of Jazz-inspired choreography paired with iconic pop music and are best known for their appearance on the BBC programme “The Greatest Dancer”, where they reached the live finals.

They will be dancing at Westgate Centre at 1pm and the 10-15 minutes performance will also be live-streamed on Offbeat Festival’s Instagram profile.

Brendan Hattam, centre director at Westgate Oxford, said: “We’re really pleased to be able to safely welcome visitors to experience something new and exciting at Westgate alongside their usual shopping trip. Offbeat Festival is one of our favourite annual events and we are overjoyed to see them launch the festival at Westgate with The Queens this year.”

Offbeat Festival 2021 is a collaboration between Arts at the Old Fire Station and Oxford Playhouse. It has been made possible with support from Arts Council England and Oxford City Council.
