It's time to celebrate some very special people - Oxfordshire’s dads.

Whether it’s their dad jokes, or their ability to just know what needs to be done, they deserve a moment in the spotlight.

Over the last year, during the pandemic, many of us have had to keep our distance or go some time without being able to see them.

The Oxford Mail wants to celebrate these special men in your life, with a photo supplement ahead of this year’s Father’s Day, Sunday, June 20.

To show your dad how much you love him, all you need to do is send us a ‘selfie with dad’, and tell us what makes him the best in your eyes.

The picture can be the last one you took together during the lockdowns or a favourite picture.

Oxford Mail editor Pete Gavan said: “We want to see the best selfies of dads and their children, so if you want to feature in our supplement, then please get involved and send yours in.

“You might have a special story about your dad you want to share with us.”

Father’s Day is always held on the third Sunday in June, an opportunity to give dads cards and gifts.

This means the exact date will vary every year.

In 2022 it will take place on June 19.

It is not the same date at all in some countries.

In Australia Father’s Day is celebrated on the first Sunday in September.

In Europe, the idea to celebrate fatherhood dates back to the early 1500s. Mother’s Day in the UK takes place in March.

Some families have already started sending in their dad selfies.

This includes Sarah Christie from Headington who sent in one of her favourite photos of her father, Alan Lygo.

She said earlier: “He’s the BFG - Big Friendly Giant.

“He’s my number one man. We lost my sister, his daughter Michelle a long time ago, which makes Father’s Day even more important. Love you pops.”
