Two men admitted attacking another in Witney.

Samuel Cooper and Leigh Clarke, both 29, had been due to stand trial at Oxford Crown Court this week on a charge of robbery.

They were said to have stolen a man’s phone in Witney on August 27, 2019.

However, appearing before Judge Michael Gledhill QC yesterday afternoon, both men admitted common assault. Cooper pleaded guilty to stealing a mobile phone from the victim and Clarke pleaded guilty to damaging the window of S&S Shoe Repairs on Corn Street.

The judge bailed both men and ordered pre-sentence reports, warning the pair that all options were open.

Cooper, of Valence Crescent, Witney, and Clarke, of Moorland Road, Witney, will be sentenced on July 5.
