The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have announced they have had a baby girl, their second child.

Lilibet "Lili" Diana Mountbatten-Windsor was born to the royal couple on Friday at approximately 11.40, in Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, California.

Both Meghan and her daughter are well according to a statement from the Sussexes.

New baby Lillibet's older brother is two-year-old Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

A message from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex was posted on the website of the non-profit organisation they founded, Archewell.

It read: "On June 4, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili. She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe. Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family."

According to the website, Lili as she willl be known, is 'named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet'.

Her middle name, Diana, was 'chosen to honor her grandmother, The Princess of Wales'.
