STAFF at Bicester's Tesco supermarket flooded a sports ground in a wave of blue to help raise funds for charity in memory of their colleague who died in a tragic crash.

Kimberley Cameron, 27, was hit by a police car that was heading to a crash on the evening of April 16 on the A41 in Aylesbury.

A tribute by her family said: "Kimberley was a very much loved daughter, sister, granddaughter, and niece.

"She was a truly remarkable, independent young woman, who, despite having Type 1 diabetes lived every day to the full and never let it define who she was."

Ms Cameron worked as a manager at Tesco in Bicester and on May 23, her colleagues ran, walked and cycled up to 10km at Whitelands Farm exercise track to fundraise for Diabetes UK in memory of her.

The event started with store manager and close friend of Ms Cameron Gemma Easton and produce colleague Conor Wilson running 10km - the equivalent of seven laps of the track.

They were followed by colleagues throughout the afternoon including Diane Ford who chose to cycle 5km and run 5.6km, store community champions Katy Andrews and Bryan Taunton who also opted to run, while other colleagues walked laps in the wind and rain to honour Ms Cameron's memory.

The store hopes to continue their fund-raising efforts this Saturday where they aim to complete 100km on an exercise bike in the Tesco store entrance which will be echoed across 23 other Tesco stores.

Funds raised will be shared between Diabetes UK and Dr Gold’s Diabetes Clinic in Aberdeen who first supported Ms Cameron when she was diagnosed with type 1 Diabetes.

Ms Cameron would regularly cycle the roads around Buckinghamshire. She took part in many national events raising money for her favourite charity, Diabetes UK, including the Tour De Vale.

As a type 1 diabetic, she was determined to not let it impact her life. She was also a keen runner and recently had been pushing her pace on her 5km runs, getting stronger.

She had set herself a goal to complete a 10km run by the end of April.

Her Dad, Kevin, and brother Jamie, with the support of her Mum, Liane, will also be running a 10km route that Ms Cameron had planned to run. They are doing this in her memory and would like people to do the same by completing a 10km activity.
