A NUMBER of historic pubs in Oxfordshire have hoisted ‘for sale’ signs despite the Government finally reopening the hospitality industry. 

There are at least a dozen pubs on the market at the moment, according to Rightmove, with Grade II-listed properties with rich histories dating as far back as the 15th Century among them.

They suit a range of budgets and could prove the perfect opportunity to realise a dream of owning a local boozer in the county.

The Crown Inn in Pishill, Henley-on-Thames, is one of the most expensive pubs currently up for sale, with a price of £850,000.

The Grade II-listed pub in the heart of the picturesque Oxfordshire countryside is a former coaching inn dating back to the 1400s, with a unique detached barn often used for weddings and other events that can accommodate up to 80 visitors.

A little less pricey is The Lamb Inn in Little Milton, which is on the market for £695,000.

The traditional 16th Century thatched pub and restaurant, with an old-school interior and a snug atmosphere, has become very popular among the local community over the years.

A few miles from Didcot Railway station is The Blueberry with an asking price of £650,000.

Set in the village of Blewbury, the two-floor property offers three letting rooms and a restaurant.

Then comes The Boot Inn in Barnard Gate near Witney, which has been listed for £625,000.

Located just off the A40, it is a two storey, traditional pub constructed from Cotswold stone set in its own grounds.

Another ‘excellent investment opportunity’, according to agents Christie&Co, is the Blue Boar in Wantage.

The Grade-II listed property on Newbury Street has recently been refurbished, giving the bar and lounge areas a ‘more modern’ and ‘appealing’ look. It can be purchased for £545,000.

The Shepherd’s Crook in Crowell, near Chinnor, has bags of potential and has been put up for sale for a little over £500,000.

There are also three pubs on the market for less than £100,000.

First is the Horse & Jockey in Stanford-in-the-Vale, which has been listed for £89,995.

The 16th Century stone-built village inn boasts eight bedrooms and a restaurant.

Then comes The Oxford Arms in Kirtlington with an asking price of £75,000.
Agent Christie&Co advise that loans are available for this project, if applicants fit their criteria.

The last property on the list is the Horse & Groom in the heart of Milcombe, near the Cotswolds.

The pub, with an asking price of £69,950, has a large restaurant that can fit up to 60 customers.
